چکیده

A 25-year-o ld woman was admitted with a 20 year history of pulsatile tinnitus. She had been aware of " buzzing " in her right ear since she was a ch ild. There was no history of otalgia, hearing loss, nor ear discharge. Th e physical examination revealed a blue hypotympanic mass medial to an intact right tympanic membrane. Increasing the air pressure in the external canal failed to cause a blan ching of the mass (Brown sign) . There was no audible bru it. An audiogram showed a minimal low-toned ipsilateral conductive loss. Electronystagmorgraphy, posturography, and rotation testing were normal. Petrous pyramid tomography showed a large right jugular foramen but without any obvious bony erosion. CT and cerebral angiography failed to reveal any mass lesion or abnormality. Venous films were not obtained at angiography.

We report a case of hypoplasia of the right transverse sinus and aplasia of the ipsilateral sigmoid sinus and the internal jugular vein. In addition, development of the petrosquamosal sinus and the presence of a large middle meningeal sinus and sinus communicans were observed. A 53-year-old Caucasian woman was referred for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) investigation due to chronic headache. ...

The Prevalence of Persistent Petrosquamosal Sinus and Other Temporal Bone Anatomical Variations on High-Resolution Temporal Bone Computed Tomography

BACKGROUND The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of petrosquamosal sinus (PSS) and other temporal bone (TB) anatomical variations in various patients using high-resolution computed tomography (CT). MATERIAL AND METHODS We reviewed clinical and consecutively obtained CT data for 276 TBs of 138 patients. The incidence of TB anatomical variations was compared among patients with rad...

Incidence of Vascular Anomalies and Variants Associated with Unilateral Venous Pulsatile Tinnitus in 242 Patients Based on Dual-phase Contrast-enhanced Computed Tomography

BACKGROUND A comprehensive assessment of various vascular anomalies and variants associated with venous pulsatile tinnitus (PT) by radiography is essential for therapeutic planning and improving the clinical outcome. This study evaluated the incidence of various vascular anomalies and variants on the PT side and determined whether these lesions occurred as multiple or single entities. METHODS...

Treatment of Pulsatile Tinnitus Associated with Multiple Factors

However, exact causes often cannot be found i...
